The second-hand marketplace Members Share Frustration Regarding Sizing Changes
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The popular resale platform has revised its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel without notifying all shoppers about the modification.
Social Media Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration.
Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.
It has advised users to examine their items and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction.
Size Classification Changes
Before the change, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Shopper Accounts
Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Another user, located in Scotland, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she said.
Necessary Adjustments
A different user, located in England, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she explained.
Service Background
The platform boasts over 100 million users, with 18 million British users.
It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: previously, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
